Description

The Harewood is a full-width gas-lift ottoman bed with a deep-buttoned Chesterfield headboard: lift the mattress platform on its gas struts and the whole space beneath the mattress, roughly 600 litres in a 4’6 double, opens up as one storage compartment.

Most Chesterfield beds stop at the edge of the mattress. The Harewood doesn’t. Its wall-width headboard runs 60cm past the bed on each side, so the deep diamond buttoning sits behind your bedside tables and turns the whole back wall into the feature, the way a boutique hotel room does.

Underneath, it works as hard as it looks. The base is a full-width ottoman: no drawers to jam, no dead corners, just one large cavity for spare duvets, winter coats, suitcases and the things that never have a home. It is hand-built to order in our West Yorkshire workshop in your choice of 6 fabrics and 40+ colours, with fabric-covered or diamante buttons.

Ottoman or divan: which storage suits you?

An ottoman lifts the whole platform to reveal one open space, so it holds bulky items a drawer never could and needs no clearance at the sides for drawers to pull out. Important considerations

The wall-width headboard is a large piece: measure the wall behind the bed, plus your doorway and stairwell, before ordering. Allow around 60cm of clear space at the foot of the bed so the platform can lift fully. Mattress and bedside tables are not included.

How much storage does the Harewood ottoman bed have?
The Harewood’s full-width gas-lift base gives roughly 610 litres in a 4’6 double and around 865 litres in a 6’0 super king, with approximately 26cm of internal depth across the whole footprint of the bed.

How wide is the Harewood headboard?
The Harewood headboard is 120cm wider than the bed: 60cm of matching buttoned panel on each side, so it sits behind your bedside tables. That makes it 261cm wide on a 4’6 double and 306cm on a 6’0 super king.

Choosing your divan bed size

The divan base is built to match your mattress size, so allow the mattress size plus 2 cm on every side.
A floor-standing headboard sits behind the base and adds to the overall length and height. Check the headboard height if the bed will sit under a window or a sloping ceiling.
Double, king and super king divan bases arrive in two halves that join together, so they can pass through narrow doorways and up stairs.
If you choose storage drawers, leave clear space at the side or foot end so the drawers can open fully.
Bed height is the base height plus your mattress depth, so check this if you want an easy step in and out.

Choosing your ottoman divan bed size

The base is built around your mattress size, so allow the mattress size plus 2 cm on every side.
The base lifts at the foot end or the side, depending on the model. Leave enough clear space at that end for it to lift fully, and check for low ceilings, radiators and wardrobe doors.
A floor-standing headboard adds to the overall length and height of the bed.
Measure the route into the room, including doorways, stairs and corners, before you order a large size.

Choosing your TV bed size

TV beds are mainly sold in double, king and super king sizes. Check the size options on this page for the model you like.
Choose a TV that fits the screen size range shown in the bed's name, for example 27"–43", 32"–55" or 40"–65".
The TV sits at the foot end of the bed, so measure the full length of the room, including the space you need to walk past the foot end.
Plan a power socket and aerial or streaming connection close to the foot end of the bed.
Keep at least 60 cm free on each side you will use.

Choosing your kids bed size

Sizes vary by model, and small single (2'6"), single (3'0") and small double (4'0") are all common. Check the size options on this page.
A small single suits younger children and small rooms. A single (3'0") gives more room to grow, so it lasts longer.
If the bed has lift-up storage, leave clear space at the foot end or side for the base to lift, and check for low ceilings and shelves.
Allow the mattress size plus 2 cm on every side for the bed base, and leave room to move around the bed safely.
